Era: Renaissance Late 14th – Early 17th Century
Monarch: Queen Isabella of Castile (Spain)
De Medici of Florence
Artist: Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Mantegna
Interior Characteristics:
- The time period and origin of the Renaissance is very hard to place because the Renaissance took place at different times and at different places.
- Although looking forward to modern thought, this period also revived the ancient Greek and Roman cultures
- Renaissance painting turned increasingly more realistic than that of its earlier eras. The artists started painting in a new way using linear perspectives. Artists such as Raphael, Michelangelo, Bartolomeo di Giovanni, and Filippino Lippi were now able to paint and portray interiors in a realistic manor
- Everything was intricately carved or crafted with pride.
- Every Renaissance piece of art, sculpture, piece of furniture, or architecture unique in its own way because there was no machinery or mass production.
- Everything is either made from wood that has dark tones such as mahogany, cherry, walnut, or ebony.
- Good use of limestone and marble also, which makes more use of intricate carvings.
- I materials make all of the rooms seem heavy and anchored to the ground.
- One major thing that I like is the fact that the people during the Renaissance period take ideas from previous time periods regarding architecture.
- They honour their ancestors by building monuments in ancient approaches.
- Architectural details and relief carvings usually of religious, mythological, or figurative stories.
