Interior Characteristics:
- The Baroque period began in Italy following the High Renaissance period.
- It was used primarily in religious buildings.
- The architecture and interior design made a new importance on painted figures and forms and sculpture.
- It is concerned with reality of appearance, and insists on the substance, colour and texture of things
- Classical forms and nature became the inspiration for this period using leaves, scrolls, flowers, wreaths, vines, and leaves. Walls were shaped and formed to curve and eclipse.
- The overall idea of the Baroque period was to strike the eye and excite people, not to suggest calmness.
