Interior Characteristics:
- The Gothic Period started in the 13th Century and lasted into the early

- New styles and techniques of building came about, and a new vocabulary of decorative detail was produced.
- In construction, the pointed arch came into play. It manifested the idea that its pointing upward would lead the eyes and thoughts to the heavens.
- Also, the use of groin vaults and flying buttresses became an important

- furniture was something only for the wealthy.
- There was less wall space and much use of stained glass.
